Social Justice Committee

Nativity United Church Social Justice Committee is the congregation's chapter of Voice-Buffalo. For a printer-friendly pamphlet outlining VOICE-Buffalo's work, click here. For a complete copy of their 2009 Annual Report, click here.

We seek to become a "VOICE for the voiceless" by:

  • Training leaders to engage in public life to make a difference in their communities

  • Acting locally to build relationships inside and outside their congregations that empower people to raise and address issues in their neighborhood and the city

  • Building regionally to break down the barriers that divide us and work to create an equitable distribution of economic and social resources

Did you know there are 137 democracies in the world? Well, guess where the US ranks in voter participation? Would you believe 135? 50% of our population is registered to vote. Only half of that take the time to vote. Which means our current president was elected by 12.5% of our eligible voters. Are you registered to vote? Do you vote?
