Welcome to the Church of the Nativity
We are a progressive congregation of the United Church of Christ. And
while our roots go back hundreds of years, we are on the cutting edge of
Christ's ministry.
At Nativity, all are welcome! We believe each person is a
beloved child of God. You are welcome regardless of your age, race,
sexual orientation, marital status, income level and church experience
-- or lack of it.
Not only are all welcome to participate in our community of faith at
Nativity, all are able to since our building and our activities are
fully accessible.
Sunday Services We hold two vibrant worship services each
Sunday: - 9:00 AM Contemporary Service
- 10:30 AM
Traditional Service.
Although the worship styles are different, our goal for each is to
create the opportunity for each worshipper to hear God speak personally
to him or her, and to respond in faith to God's love and guidance.
Sunday School Throughout the traditional school year we offer
Sunday School during each service, along with nursery care for infants;
during the summer, we have Sunday School and nursery during the 9:00 a.m.
service and nursery during the 10:30 service.
We have excellent middle high and senior high youth programs, two
delightful children's choirs and a high school choir. High school youth
also participate in our English Hand Bell Choir and Chancel Choir.
At Nativity we nurture growth in both faith and community.
We have several small groups, including Bible studies, book groups, a
Women's Spirituality Group and a Men's Group. We celebrate the seasons
with events for the whole church family.
Why do we do all this? Our goal is to continue Christ's
ministry. We empower each person to discover and develop his or her best
gifts and to use them to do Christ's work. Individually and together, we
seek to offer Christ's healing love in our families, our neighborhoods
and our communities.
It's why we provide monthly meals to the Night People Drop-In Center.
It's why we host three large AA groups and many other community
organizations. It's why we resettle refugee families and why we are
active in VOICE-Buffalo, an organization working to promote justice and
equality and improve the quality of life in our area. It's why our youth
take part in service activities, including supervised week-long summer
work trips outside of Western New York.
