Sacraments
Nativity and the United Church of Christ recognizes two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper
or Holy Communion.
Baptism: Baptism is a symbol of belonging to God and to the Christian community. We baptize
children (and adults) during worship when the community is present because baptism includes the
community's promise of 'love, support and care' for the baptized. Parents interested in having
children baptized should contact one of the ministers.
Holy Communion: The celebration of Holy Communion comes from Jesus' last supper with his disciples.
Therefore, we believe that the invitation to come to communion comes from Jesus and all are
welcome at the table. Communion is celebrated the 1st Sunday of the month at the Traditional
Service (10:30 a.m.) and the 3rd Sunday at the Contemporary Service (9:00 a.m.).
